Shounen/Slice-of-Life hybrid with a focus on the father/daughter relationship between the sword and the wielder. Very cute, with surprisingly very little weird stuff ever happening in all 1200 chapters.I whole-heartedly recommend this series, however do note that somewhere in the 300-400 range the translations get quite rough as the series gets juggled between multiple different translators.The first couple dozen chapters are also a bit rough, but once it get's going it is hard not to fall in love in this series.I'd recommend watching the anime adaptation first, if you are somehow here not having seen it. That said, it only covers up to the first 60 chapters. The manga will get you to the mid 100~s but it adds plot detail not present in this version, with one particular set of characters being introduced and fleshed out almost 1000 chapters early.
