This novel made me realize that I can love a Chinese webnovel. It's so funny, not just in the system shenanigans but due to the character designs themselves. The romantic dynamic is a really confident, pure-hearted woman who nevertheless was raised in another world and gets easily deceived with a jaded, cold woman who softens to her sincerity and becomes a sort of overprotective predator. What gets really funny is when the protagonist (the first woman) starts acting in wuxia drama because she really was a cultivator in real life and it goes great. The entertainment setting isn't just for backstabbing drama, though there is that, there's a lot of work and acting. Most importantly though, this novel is romantic and quite hot. The fumbling of the protagonist towards her love interest and the deliberate holding back of the love interest despite her desires that sometimes breaks... it's so f*cking good. The translation could be clearer in places, but this is a win.
