Honestly I really loved this novel.In the beginning the plot is full of allusions and foreshadowing that at some points made my stomach drop. The writing itself is very beautiful and how the author conveyed the FL's feelings to us the readers was lovely. Although I do feel the writing became dull towards the end.I will say that because of the TONE of the novel as well as the writing that, from the beginning towards the middle I had different expectations to how the plot would progress... I was expecting tragedy, twists and heartbreak however I was still satisfied with how the novel ended up progressing.also as one reviewer said, the sisterhood in this novel is great. Due to many other historical novels where girls are pitted against each other, I anticipated the sister relations would sour but to my surprise they didn't.I recommend it because it's well rounded novel in terms of characters, plot and HE for basically everyone except maybe two.Spoiler
The "emperor" definitely deserved what he got because of his schemes and insincere feelings. But the other person who "technically" didn't get a happy ending was concubine Shen. Although I like to think that she's probably satisfied with what she has due to her modern mindset.
