I like their early relationship dynamics the best because when they got together the ML has less agency. The ML is still sweet and cool, but he follows along with whatever the MC wants. The MC is considerate in everything he does for the ML, but they are very codependent. This story is less romance and more slice of life. They don't encounter big obstacle or emotional conflict or misunderstandings. Reading this calms me down to see them happy together. I would say that it's very character focus and world building story. The side characters don't have a big impact on the story and the MC/ML don't really get close to any other characters beside the ori!MC (their nephew) and their master. However, you can't really say the other characters are 2D, you can't say they are 3D either, probably 2.5D with some characters being 2.75D. The side characters have their own life and goals, most goals being to get stronger, but all of them can be seen to be the main characters of their own story. To describe the story artistically, I would say it's an abstract painting. A painting where it conveys an emotion more than a scenery or portrait. The author is very intentional in color choice and shape but there's no overarching plot or message trying to get at you. Some parts might be boring, but it still contribute to the overall feeling of the painting.
