This is a great novel that gets hindered by pacing and poor characterizationI actually liked it a lot even though it's way shorter than it should've beenThis was my favorite moment probably in any martial arts novel:Spoiler
she pulls out a shotty and starts killing mfs left and right in the most gangsta way
[collapse]The worst part I think it's the villains. Every single antagonist with a couple exceptions have actually the IQ of a ten year old, they are extremely emotional and can't seem to plan ahead for more than 10 seconds. This seems like the standard for this type of novel but it killed the immersion repeatedly for me.And because of the fast pacing we don't really get to know any character, especially the MC's bodyguard, she had some development at the end, but nothing that made you actually empathize with her in an immersive way.
