Unfortunately, this novel falls into the weird space a lot of Chinese novels are in where the author just makes things happen to/by characters with little rhyme or reason.It's quite hard to tolerate to be honest, since you don't get any time to learn about the characters before the story blows into the next contrived setting for plot advancement.The translation by Tangerine is stellar as always, but this novel falls short.
