Plot: 5/10Characters: 6/10Pacing: 2/10Translation: 8/10TOTAL: 5.25/10So the romance arc was great. Fantastic. I really enjoyed watching Ei and Dante fall in love in that little house in the forest and their interactions with the nearby village and villagers. The thing is, it takes FOREVER to reach the climax of this arch, the reunion. It doesn't really make sense that Ei wouldn't have told Dante about her immortality. She learns Dante is immortal, a HUGE secret, but then doesn't reciprocate? It's explained at first as an absentmindedness because she was overwhelmed with joy over learning that she wouldn't be alone and then a subsequent waffling on timing regarding when to tell him. Then she dies and is revived and we get into her journey to find Dante. We get a nice reunion with a villager, but then other side characters are introduced, who I honestly couldn't give an eff about because I JUST WANNA SEE EI AND DANTE REUNITE. We aren't even given a full picture of how Dante has turned crazy, we just hear people saying Dante is crazy. And then when the two finally reunite, it kinda falls flat. I think it's because the author was introducing too many breadcrumbs (or rather full loaves of bread) to prep us for the next arc that it gets in the way of their reunion. And rather than give us a break and let us bask in their love and reunion, the author immediately sets us on course for the next arc. It's all super drawn out and tiresome, honestly, hence why I rated this 2 stars instead of 3 stars. The premise of two immortal anomalies finding each other and falling in love is super interesting, but the execution was disappointing. It feels like a second draft that should have gone through 34 more rounds of revisions, cutting, and rearranging. I've dropped this fic, but I'd give this author another shot based upon the beginning romance alone.
