The story is a solid 3.5 out of 5.
Translation:
5/5 really well done.
Story:
3/5
Notes:
Nothing special but not bad. Something to binge read to pass the time. Not focused on romance so much as it is about family and friends being supportive and how much that can effect someone's life.
Detailed review:
Is there anything wrong with this story? Nope. Its just kind of... plain.
Its a solid story. I don't even think that the villains are unrealistic. I have met people who are that delusional. They're not "over the top unrealistic cartoonish villains", they're just abnormal. Including the fact that they're mega rich, and they're pretty realistic.
The translator did a fantastic job with translating this novel. The quality is quite high and they did an amazing job at making the writer understandable and fluid to read. If you do decide to give this novel a try, please write them a nice comment if you can. I've noticed they don't get much attention/comments.
The problem with this novel is not that there's anything wrong with the writing or translation. The problem is that nothing particularly interesting happens.
This is a novel one binge reads to pass the time. Its enjoyable but not particularly interesting or special.
In case you're wondering what it is about (because we all know the summaries are never accurate and I know I always check the reviews to see what the story is actually about) :
The story is about how the main character, through the support of his friends and family, leads a normal high school life and avoids being kidnapped and mu*dered by his OG!Family.
Its basically the Story of "My sister's Keeper" if the character of Anna was reborn and had an adopted family to save her.
In more detail:
Spoiler
Its about a boy who was abandoned, adopted by very loving parents, and then years later his original family pressures him to come back with them, and through the power of miscommunication, he goes with them because he thinks his adopted parents want him to. He is them ab*sed and mu*dered because his brother wants his heart to have a healthier body.
He then is reborn at the point where he would be forced back by his original family, and refuses.
The Fang family tries to get him back through various manipulations and attempts, but are thwarted by people who are (understandably) not okay with a rich family harrassing a 16 year old boy and his parents.
He makes friends with a boy and they become good friends, and later (and by later I mean the end of the novel) they become boyfriends.
[collapse]
The romance is a slowburn. The novel's focus is not romance, its focus is on the power of having the support of family and friends.
The rich grandpa doesn't even show up until past halfway through the story. He's literally just a plot device.
Frankly, this is the kind of story that "I transmigrated into a sickly villain" stories happen in.
If this was written in the format of some guy transmigrating into Fang Yan and him trying to avoid his grizzly end and the tragedy his family meets, I wouldn't even question it.
*fearfully looks around to check there's no Truck-kun*
The story ends at 62 chapters, and there are extras, but frankly literally all the plot has been resolved by chapter 60 and I can't bring myself to read the last two wrap up chapters and I'm not interested in the extras at all.
