Edit: I had to change my entire review because some things in the story dramatically changed.

Fair warning before you read this: The story deals with a ML with a mental disability. It's been established that the ML has Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) not schizophrenia. The tone is a bit rough since people treat him badly considering the time period. There are mentions of people including family members calling the ML "fool" "s*upid" etc. And some degrading by third-party characters. But the FL does not treat the ML-like this. There are a few complaints that the FL could have done more research on his condition considering that she's from modern times but there's only so much that the FL could have done. She's not a doctor, it's the 70s so she can't find a doctor, and she has zero experience in treating DID so I feel like it's unfair that people changed their reviews, gave it a bad rating, etc. Based on this. If I or you were in the FL's situation we wouldn't know what to do either outside of what we read in books and our best estimate/guess. Which is what the FL did.

Anyway, me personally, it doesn't bother me that much with the slurs and degrading (except when it does,) but it's a trigger warning. I wanted to mention it.

To sum up the story without any spoilers: the MC ends up in one of her favourite novels as a character and changes things to survive and help the ML. The MC is goal orientated and wants to have a good, lazy life so she tries to do so by using her knowledge of the future along with her golden finger. The MC is cunning for a woman, has a strong will, and is funny at times.

I enjoyed the MC and ML the most, up until a point. There's a turning point in the story involving the ML's DID and his three personalities as shown on the cover/description Spoiler

Since each personality is the ML, they vanish when he solves issues. The MC's favorite personality is the third one, which is pretty rough, sort of a gangster type. So a majority of the story is about her spending time with him, spoiling him, branching out a relationship with him, and even sleeping with him. She is barely with the first personality after this point and barely spends time with the second too. I know that one has the mentality of a six-year-old and the other is kind of cold, but I would have liked if the MC actually went out of her way to find out more about the second and changed the relationships she had with both of them before they vanished.

[collapse]

It made me feel bad because the author could have expanded the relationship between the ML's other personalities along with the MC but the spoiler just happened like BOOM. I know that she prefers one over the other but in terms of characterization, it makes her seem shallow and kind of cold.

I can't stand the family members at all. Spoiler

especially when it's revealed that the family members are the cause of the ML's DID and the ML's parents even sold him off to someone else to get ab*sed.

[collapse] And there's a lot of dramatic dog blood and karma. It is refreshing though and a good point to see a Chinese based novel with a cunning MC that isn't super op. Her ability can be broken but so far she's not abusing it and relying on the ML's abilities too. She also relies on other people when she can so that's one good point with the MC.

Beside the MC and ML everyone else is kind of there at this point, since the focal is about the ML's DID and how it interacts with the world and MC along with their antics and interactions.

I would give this a three or a 3.5 at the most but I'm not changing my star review. I don't hate the story but I don't like how I ended up liking it less when it went on. It's not boring but kind of sad.

Author currently as 4 books going at once.Just wished they’d concentrate on finishing the current book before starting a new one.So frustrating waiting for continuous updates, especially when readers are invested in their book & spend their $$ to read chapters.Save your money & read something else

Wow, this has turned into something different that I didn't expect, in a good way. It starts to get really interesting in the 700's, when she starts to remember stuff. I wish this book was done, so I wouldn't have to keep waiting for 1 chapter each time.
