Huh... Well okay, I feel bamboozled by all the super positive reviews. This is barely even a story so far?TL;DR - This is a sad husk of a story dressed up in low stakes, streamlined fluff to distract you from the less than barebones plot and honestly atrocious storytelling. Key point: MC's one and only friend has yet to be named 24 chapters in even when he's been the main/only other person in several chapters. Only 3 characters have names so far: MC, FMC, MC's junior that sits next to him. This is low effort wish fulfillment to the max so far. If all you want is overly streamlined fluff with (so far) barely any actual story telling or world/setting descriptions, then it might be for you. This story gives absolutely no details outside of the main characters. I think even the author is forgetting what little story there is involving other characters, because MC literally tells his only friend that his housemaid is in their department, a computer science major. Yet next time MC asks for advice about his housemaid, his friend makes a strong assumption that his housemaid is at least 20 years older than them. Too many details in a story is obviously messy, but somehow the author seems to be getting confused even with what I feel like is below the bare minimum details a story should have. All of this to say this world feels dead because other characters are so irrelevant that even the author forgets what they know about MC and FMC. Even worse is that I only know MC and FMC while they still try to talk about the world around them in annoyingly vague detail. These are the unnecessarily vague things I can remember off the top of my head, there might be more:
- They've never said the name of their university
- Never said the name of the only class they share.
- Never said the name of his only friend.
- Never said the name of the city they live in.
- Unless I'm misremembering they have never even said they live in South Korea or even the currency they use. They just say numbers when talking about money like 500 or whatever.
- Introduced a group project with the only other named character who might figure out they live together or question their relationship and completely skipped over it.
- Said FMC goes to MC's room to chat and never shows any of that.
- Relating to 7, they basically skip the awkward stage to when they have positive feelings and feel comfortable.
