this starts after Scarlet finally gains control of her witch abilities, is no longer needing to struggle to hold back mu*derous impulses, and is accepted back into society. The part about her being accepted back into society goes a little too quickly and easily, I think. It makes sense that she is allowed back, but I feel that the citizens seem to accept her surprisingly quickly, and you don't get to see much about how she adapts to re-entering society because there's no downtime after that. Within the span of just a few dozen chapters, the witches' conspiracy is revealed, there are two major attacks on the city by witches which are repelled, and many major characters die. Compared to how thoroughly the story explored developments prior to this, it's disappointing to see such important plot points get rushed.
[collapse]I'm still only at chapter 285 so maybe the pace slows down a bit after this to give the story more breathing room as we get closer to the end, which I'm hopeful for. Don't get me wrong, even with these complaints the story is very much worth reading. It's just something that brings the story down from a 4.5/5 to a 4/5 IMO.
