Been reading on this site for many years by now, but this is the first time I’ve felt compelled enough by a story to write a review. This story really is the best example of expectation subversion, it builds up a narrative from the start full of your typical tropes, but fairly quickly you realise things aren’t as they were once portrayed.MC is an unreliable narrator with a very interesting and complex character, there are only a handful of side characters that the novel expands on but they’re also fleshed out and well written. One thing I personally really like is that like other similar novels there are misunderstandings, however, it doesn’t hinder the plot, it always only serves as comedic relief or to advance relationships. I also really appreciate the rapid and quality TL.Only small gripe I have is that the author tries to make the MC seem as pitiful as possible to the other character in the novel even in her smallest actions, I wouldn’t go as far as to say it’s pity bait but it does seem like it’s just a little bit overdone.
