The novel is interesting for me. Although it is repetitive formula after 100 chapters, it's still a fresh take on the genre. 99% of the plot are flashbacks with retrospective reaction from all parties related to MC's former body's past.MC's former body was (supposedly) the big evil villain who are hated by everyone. He was being ganged up by the novel protagonist + former allies + potential female heroines. Since he's near invincible, the alliance has to trap him in a special formation that slowly drain his cultivation. However, this formation also has a side-effect where it replays the victim memory. At this point, MC transmigrated and gains system that let him rewrite the past memory, as long as it doesn't cause plot holes or stray too far from reality. Since cultivators are old and forgetful, he's able to exploit the memory gaps to whitewash his former body's past evil action. He then tried to gain back trust from former allies and female heroines through this trickery, and turn them against the novel protagonist. As for whether MC's former body is truly evil, it is actually open ended information. There are evidences that his former self was a good person. However, there are also no clear explanation for some of the atrocity that his former self committed.
