The obvious parallel that could be made, especially with N’Doul’s arc, was that of Danny and Jonathan. But Iggy was no Danny. He was his own dog. And his compadre was his rival from the moment they crossed eyes, Polnareff. Polnareff at least held together some of the initial promise, to not look back. Holding in all of his hurt when largely the reason he is here is for his friends and nothing more since his initial goal was finished, he limped onwards to face Dio. It looks like I’ll get the scene I anticipated, the one of the rest of the gang having stumbled onto the graveyard of two of their best friends. In a way, option #3 is very true. Life is cruel.
Polnareff was tough though, until the end, aware of Vanilla Ice’s situation and being far smarter than me. My dumbass asked: How will he lose, hamon???? Somehow I didn’t think about using the sun… Regardless, D’arby may have almost defeated the heroes but Vanilla Ice was the one to really do the job well. I almost want to congratulate him too. He fought until the bitter end, fanatic or not. Him and Polnareff were admirable in their battle.
“I don’t have the time or the luxury to cry and mourn.” Abdul did ultimately get a death panel and my disappointment over retracting the bold and sudden death he initially faced is lessened because this one was even more powerful in its execution. Iggy had a sacrificial death which was set up and beautiful. To contrast, Abdul was zipped out of existence and that is shocking even for Araki. Ultimately, the pup was able to go to heaven on the back of the man who caught him in the first place which was poetic.
