typical slice of life with farming and cooking. There a bit of family drama and slight dog blood but for the most part it's a calm story, most issues get resolved pretty quickly and overall feel a bit repetitive. It can have its funny moments but it's dragging on a bit. I feel like an outlier among the reviews but the more I read the less and less I'm liking the MC and the ML.

From the start ML is one of those quiet rarely talks but very capable kinda possessive men. At the beginning his lack of talking was fine, he doesn't really know MC so why would he bother talking but then they got together and he only talked a little more. I'd get frustrated that others had to talk for him or he causes misunderstandings all because he's not sure how to verbalize it and would take too long. He's a bit too indulgent with MC letting him come on dangerous trips when he has weaker constitution, letting him make disposable diapers out of fine cloth (I'll touch more on this later because it irks me the longer I think about it) I know there's more gender segregation/propriety in china especially in the era they're in but ML even stops the younger siblings from getting a hugs from MC when they want to be comforted like dude they're kids who have no mother figure but MC chill out. But then during his bedroom time with MC he's a god dang animal ravaging MC till he's bedridden for days and always falls back into that bad habit even after MC complains.

MC started off great for me. He had a reasonable backstory which helped him integrate with rural life. He attributes his good cooking skills to all the food blogs he read during his time caring for him mom but also understands his limitations like he's not great at sewing and maybe making glass could be dangerous not just making it but getting himself targeted by others. He's got a strong attitude that doesn't let himself be bullied and because he grew up with less boundaries he was very bold and uncaring of gossip when he did things like chase after a man or bring his paternal family into his husbands home. The longer he goes on though he's becoming a one of the typical golden finger protag that's a jack of all trades or is gaining a family member who will. He's a beauty that unintentionally charms others (the author likes to act as if it's an unconscious thing but MC is aware of it & uses it to his advantage) he can make a lot of money with it but then spends wastefully I'm a bout to rant about money and diapers in the spoilers

he made disposable fine diapers when others can barely afford to make new clothes once a year, babies potty so often and are diapered for a few years! If he has more kids he'll repeat it. That's just so much money thrown away when he can pay the sister to wash them or something! And he wants to pass that habit onto his siblings saying they can afford such things. And that just drives me bonkers, like such habits could drive you to the poor house! Especially in that era! Like they don't have the same level of wealth that ML and MC do, they who make multiple recipes and hunt big game in the mountains for thousands of taels. The dad's savings got wiped out not once but twice (once by the divorce/greedy mother & son and the second time the house caved in and the dad got hurt) and both time the younger two siblings (mainly the girl) had to be the ones working and saving up money. MC can be so snooty about it because modern sensibilities feeling like he's different because it's for his benefit but then calls his husband a spendthrift and that he'll drive them to the poor house from his random shopping like honey you guys have the same habits. You want to give pigs ice rather than build shelter for them. You can both be bad with money management.

MC will get involved in his dad's business but god forbid his siblings who actually live with the dad say something. Spoiler

the younger siblings are worried about their dad changing and mistreating them if they get a stepmom especially after they meet a character who was in that scenario, MC is like "how dare you accuse our dad of that? Dad is young and doesn't deserve to be alone, he won't change." But like their bio mom wasn't the best to them as a parent always favoring the eldest male (not ger) and the dad was so focused on farming he ignored the wrongdoings she did to all her kids (the original goods was the most mistreated while the others were neglected/undisciplined) if MC didn't keep him in check he'd probably still do it. But MC won't be allowed to be as involved if the dad remarries.

while I do like the slice of life (for the most part) I'm starting to get bored and I'm wondering about the side characters more than the main couple, I'd like to see more with the little sister. I'm also wondering how the original storyline is going. Like where the general/cousin/og!ML that chased after MC is at, if he's on track to be the guy he should be. That whole thing was confusing: like he fell in love at first sight from saving the OG and would stalk the OG (dang does that mean you just let him be ab*sed and overworked in front of you), but also claimed that he was seeing him again first time in over a year he saw the current MC with his cousin and that's when he fell in love. Who was the random woman who tried to get ML to marry her was it really a coincidence that she had a similar name to MLs sister in law and that's why MC was stuck on the name or is she possibly the original FL from the novel he read? If she is, then is she able to meet the OG!ML considering MLs encounter with her ended up with her in jail for a while or are they now two ships that passed by, instead of meeting. I don't know if I'll keep reading. I might take a break since I'm just feeling more frustrated than entertained.

EDIT: I read another ten chapters and what I read was an instant drop. Why the heck did MC become braindead he need to stop rolling in bed and having babies bc his brain cells are leaving. Also the new plot point, I'm almost insulted on their behalf. Spoiler

THE ORIGINAL GOODS HAVE BEEN REBORN WITH AWARENESS OF THEIR PAST LIFE AS THEIR OLD BODY'S CHILD THATS JUST SO WEIRD AND HOW THEY TREAT HIM IS JUST ARGH. I CANT GET BEHIND IT.
