With that dead stare behind a mask, Silver Chariot is looking like Jagi.

As soon as I stop trying to read into the arrogance of shounen villains, the arrogance of Polnareff is a literal plot point with him wanting to fight Avdol at his best. He is proud and confident when it comes to his skills.  Akin to how Jotaro is a king of strength and precision, Polnareff appears to be an absolute master of swordsmanship.  Creating vacuums of air with his slashes to contest fire and use it himself and having excellent accuracy.  He can go so far to make flaming clocks, or carve statues of Magician's Red to flaunt his skills.

The two fought in Tiger Balm Garden, something Araki probably thought was so cool he needed to put it in Jojo.  And in total Jojo fashion, the environment and the ramifications of the environment are key to victory.  That statue that Polnareff created to compliment the scenery ended up being used.  After some of the most beautiful pages, seriously amazing drawings and amazing coloring for those involved, Avdol used his powers to blur Polnareff’s vision and misdirect him.  He sliced the very statue he created and from there Avdol shrouded Polnareff in flame and struck once more with a powerful one liner.  ‘You’d challenge a fortune teller to a battle of prediction? Who do you think you are?’  What this conflict also ended up showing was that Avdol, like most people with powers like his in fiction, hurts himself if he gets too hot.  I can already imagine a sacrificial moment where he chooses to voluntarily burn himself up to help his peers.

I had a crack theory that Dire, Stroheim, and Polnareff were all in the same bloodline as they all have that same style of hair, but unfortunately with the proud German and the French Polnareff, I have to doubt that now.  Also, this part of Jojo is so battle shounen, the most so far out of the three I’ve been reading.  The gang of heroes all with unique powers and constantly fighting over the top villains with unique powers themselves.  That said, I understand Jojo helped invent that formula so it’s no criticism.

Polnareff wanted a fair fight against Avdol so they agreed to fight in Balm Tiger Park.

Polnareff proved that his abilities weren't back by just ego but he lost because of it anyway. That Crossfire Hurricane fire substitution counterattack was pretty impressive.

Oh yeah, Abdul is a fortune teller. That's what you get for messing with him, Polnareff-kun.
