Interesting spin on transmigrated to another time, But the archaic mindsets that are just repeatedly brought up disgusts me a lot. This is supposed to be after China relaxed it's socialist policies but the villagers mindset seems to be stuck in a time before that. They keep harping on about fertility issues being the woman's problem. The harping on that women should not be providing for their maternal family is really cringe, they portray this like the worst sin - it's just not a realistic view of society as ancient China may have had the idea of married daughters being likes tossed out water but in this setting, modernisation should have the basic decency of acknowledging that women have parents too and they aren't just sold to another family. Like they mention divorce is a thing, but also make it sound like the absolute loss for a woman.This novel is just rather frustrating to read, the supporting cannon fodder characters are really annoying, it's a lot of drawn out irritating encounters with no real relief. I can't really connect with any character in the story as they all have off putting points.the sister-in-laws are scheming greedy and just outright trying to squeeze all the money from the parents-in-laws. The parents-in-laws are pushovers. The husband is awol. Her mother is an abusive mother-in-law. Her maternal sister-in-law is a thief. The other one is ab*sed for fertility issues to a ridiculous extent.
