So, I think I understood the jist of it, he loved his teacher, wrote her a love poem but then overheard her talking about what the student who wrote it must be like, and of course being the trouble student he was he was nothing like what she expected the author to be like so he ran away emberassed and saddened. Many years later a girl student (who by the way looks like that teacher) falls for him and his poems, but he rejects her, so she becomes the new poet? Pretty sure that is what happened, although I really thought their would be some forbidden love developing in this chapter.
