Well technically her true nature is different now isn't it? She used to be a tomboy who didn't care about her outer appearance, now she does care about her out appearance because she wants to be popular with all the male students. Pretty sure that is a rather large change in character . . . Anyways, going to bet the scientist built something stupid like a "manly serum" or something like that.
