Guys, we've lived up to this day...

Casca sane and wielding a sword

Another thing crossed out of my bucket list.

Now I'll try to be more ambitious and hope to live up to the last chapter.

Wow man don't get too crazy now, who knows how long it'll be until the next chapter even.

I try dreaming at least :D

The only thing we can do as Berserk fans xD

I knew Miura would have Caska immediately show off her fighting skills once she was back, just couldn't figure out how. He could've been more creative with it, but it also could've been way worse (apostles attacking Elf Island or something like that).

Yeah its not like she was previously the leader of an entire army and a renown fighter. Its not like herself commented on how she subconsciously was able to feel and sense the presence of the group. It's not like its their first time seeing Casca in a none deranged way led the part wanting to talk to her. What are they supposed to do, just stand akward and look at her? The best way to reintroduce Casca was to show what she was prior to regressing mentally, and that is a Warrior.

Your complaints are more forced than the writing. In the general sense most of these interactions are natural. She was a warrior and her memory went only as far to the point of seeing Griffiths tortured body till she encountered Guts again by the end of this episode.

Not only that, but several times throughout the manga Miura made sure to display that Casca, even in her mentally regressive stage had fighting instincts. See volume 23.  And you not finding it creative doesn't surprise me, your knowledge and comprehension of the series seems to be quite low.

The vikings and her new sword are directly related to King Gaiseric, the same King who eventually became the Skull Knight and appeared at the end of 359.

I wasn't criticizing the author's need to show her skills. I was criticizing the way he chose to do it, and the in-world reasons for that.

As you said, this is the first time they've ever seen her in her normal state. It's as if she's just come back from a long coma. What's the first thing they do? Hand her a sword and have her fight some dummies. And for what reason, exactly? It's showing off her skills just for the sake of showing. Just so we know that now they know how awesome she is/was as well. It's a form of catharsis. It would've been more natural to have this happening through a few days a least, as a sort of training or rehab, which would absolutely be necessary in her case and would show everyone both her skill and determination. But that wouldn't provide us with that immediate gratification. To me, it would've been better not to do it at all, just let her fight when she actually needs to, instead of showing off to a crowd. We'd been waiting for so many years, what are a few more months compared to that?

Character introductions in anime/comics are often like this: they immediately have the new character showcase their powers/skills in some way. Watch a single episode of shonen and you'll see what I'm talking about. This is to inform the audience of their powers or, in the case of characters that were missing, to show how they've  improved (or in this case how they can still fight). This is almost always done through a battle or some other meaningful challenge, while here it is done by fighting dummies, which is, IMO, lazy and unimginative. At least, as I pointed out in my other comment, this was prefferable to a contrived battle just for the sake of having a battle.

In my opinion, regarding their interactions, awkwardly standing there would've been more natural for some of the characters than striking cringy conversations, but that's a matter of opinion. It's been a while and I frankly don't remember much about the dialogue.
