I know it's pretty obvious, but I love how Godo talking about fixing Guts' sword is a metaphor for Guts himself. No matter how much Guts rusts and cracks, if he returns to the fire, he can be reborn.
The fire is probably Casca.
or maybe getting revenge on Griffith would be the fire.
