We're getting into the fun parts. Either the orders were given by the old guy and he forgot or somebody else snuck those orders in to add in some excitement.
Oh I get it ... So instead of killing the pope, they are going to make it appear that Friend is like, the child of god or something ... Basically making friend appear the true savior or whatnot.
