The preliminary match for Mashiba is finally here, and that last page makes it look like he's down for the count. I'm hoping it's just a bait and switch scenario, and he's actually looking down at his opponent, not the other way around.



The brother/sister sibling spat was cute. I've been like that with my own sister. Felt very normal and relatable. Mashiba won't accept Ippo, but he'll accept anyone who has money. Fits his personality.

To be fair, I wouldn't accept the current Ippo as partner for my sister either. He loves boxing more than Kumi yet he has neither ambition nor stable income. Especially for Mashiba, who had to work so hard after their parents death, it's unacceptable. Yet deep down he acknowledges him somewhat and he may even be able to compromise if Ippo gets his shit together. Going after the world title is the condition he set for himself to make sure that won't happen. Because as world champion he surely will be stronger than Ippo.



The down was a surprise. Inb4 we're going to see him go rage mode again when he spots Kumi with Ippo.
