                        So Meroko and the grandmother knew each other when they were in their teens? twenty's? and it seems thanks to a arranged marriage and maybe miscommunication on the Grandmothers part Meroko committed suicide. Damn that's harsh.

Wow, so heartbroken for Meroko.  I didn't imagine her backstory would be that dark.  Her constant jealousy & strong attachment to love makes more sense now.  Part of me has been hoping she'd be able to find love with Izumi, but I'm also hoping Izumi can read into her real emotions and stop her from throwing everything away.
