haha I would say that this was progress if Hanzou wasn't so practical... Though I wonder if it is possible that Hanzou was a little bit jealous which would explain why he actually came after hearing about the wedding and bailed right after seeing Goemon kiss her. I don't really get why Goemon turned down his marriage to Usagi however I get the feeling he is going to really regret that.
