They waited until Gremmy weakened Zaraki before deciding to jump in.
Pride clearly doesn't matter to them, since they aren't above eating fallen comrades or frying random fodder-gami. They seem even more ruthless than Bambietta did.
It is a "war", after all. Why would anyone not try to take advantage of that sort of situation?

Lol, Kubo isn't even trying anymore. Serving us the same shit over and over again, just different (cliche, boring and undeveloped) charactes.
Even shounen genre, with all its predictable and repetitive tropes, can be enjoyable and fun, with good story told in a nice way and characters that you remember. Bleach lost all of that a long time ago. The story telling is HORRIBLE and it's just a series of repetitive battles with no real purpose now. Maybe I'll see the end before I die.
Think back to chapter 518 and a few before that, bleach hasn't lost the whole character remembrance thing. At some point we will be seeing Grimmjow (Chap 518 ref) hopefully with a 2nd release like ulquiorra, harribel is still alive in heuco mundo (not sure the chapter ref), the fullbringers are training with ganju (chap 518 ref), and when Juhu came to the SS, he visited Aizen who distorted his sense of time so Aizen is a potential ally (one of the chapters following up to 518... somewhere between like 512 and 517).
