Wrong way round. The real Kaede was fighting Quintum and the clone stole the key, which is why everyone was shocked when she got blasted at the end of the chapter.

Well this chapter sure was messy, or the translation was.



What I understood from it:

When she gave the key to Maki and co she said "as expected, he is not so simple an enemy that I can match him with a split body" implying that the one that was fighting it was one of her split body, a clone, and then she used a transportation technique to go fight him with her real body probably to buy them some times.



On the other hand, it also look like the one fighting it was the real one and the clone stole the key, the translation don't seem to follow the image.



In that sentence she was referring to when she tried to use her 16 split bodies against Quintum, as she did at the start of the battle right after knocking him away. Plus, in the last frame before Kaede is struck down in a largish explosion, the copy with the key starts to disintegrate.

Characters are dropping like flies. Not that it should be otherwise in this situation. The single Fate had the potential to wipe the party. Wonder if Chachamaru's mind can be uploaded. We've a got a big job for Chisame if so. Then again, with the petrification and lightning lance and everything, we're practically counting on a giant reset to keep the status quo that most shounens do.



Kaede is pretty amazing, though. And I seem to recall she's only established as a chuunin? Wonder what kind of world destroying matters the jounins are up to. Unfortunately, this isn't the best formed plan on Kaede's part. I mean, a sacrificial play is well and good, but how exactly are her friends supposed to play keep away with someone who can go lightning form? They do have some nice artifacts as a whole, but what's Makie supposed to do?



Not like there was other choice, the only thing they can do now is stall for time.

Even with the great grand master key they can't do much, Nodoka barely understand it and can only use short transport spell with it but if she manage to fully understand it then she could even fight Quintum herself.

This most probably won't happen tough.



It was showed to be almost impossible to actually come into the base at this point so I beleive it is very unlikely for someone to come help. Eva might be the only one able to pull it off and even if she get here I don'T beleive she has the power to defeat the whole averruncus serie herself.

Chao can't come now because she would overwhelm anybody at this point.



A last Negi powerup in his inside world is the most likely thing to happen now.
