It was obvious that Negi heard his dad's voice at the beginning but I guess I suppose they needed to end the chapter here in case. This probably wouldn't translate greatly into an anime (unless they block out the sound & words from that line & only show it at the end of chapter when Negi thinks about it again). Decent chapter.
