GetBackers Chapter 255 Discussion

                        Thus ends this little Take an Oath interlude, and what a great series of chapters it was for hyping up the final arc of the series. I really liked Kazuki and Shido's scene, particularly the moment where Kazuki reveals he still believes in Saizo, I really like that element of his character. And Shido tagging along is sweet, of the main cast he's the one most divorced from the events, as his story arc basically concluding with the Eternal Bond arc. Glad he'll be getting involved. I love that Kazuki, Himiko, Ban, and Ginji all have their own personal arcs involved in here, a long with Paul's, Der Kaiser, and Teshimine. Not to mention Akabane will certainly be involved, rather interested in all this. The scene with Ban and Ginji and Teshimine was great too.



Though the ending scene with Ban hiring Ginji to retrieve Himiko and Ginji hiring Ban to retrieve his mother was really heartwarming, and one of my favorite scenes of the series so far. It's a perfect way to set-up the final arc, highlighting the personal stakes they both have whilst also highlighting there close bonds. I love moments like Ban agreeing with Ginji that his mother must've been taken from him (though personally, I'm not sure that's the case).



I only hope it can deliver. This series was looking at a 7/10 rating from me for the longest time, but it's looking to raise above that. I don't imagine the final arc could do enough damage to really hurt the score of the series, but an 8 is definitely likely and I'd love to leave it with a 9.
