The setting of this fight taking place "inside Makubex" has also been a really memorable set-piece for the final battle, and I far prefer a villain suffering through existential dread where the hero is fighting to save them, over a straight villain. Not that Makubex has been presented as a straight evil villain for awhile now, his position is understandable and we've seen a glimpse of his self-loathing earlier in the arc, but I just want it noted, Makubex is the best antagonist thus far because there's more to him than simple being an evil jerk like basically all the previous ones. Except for Akabane, he's my favourite character and kind of exists outside of that. This was all just to say I'm glad there's more character and heart to the final battle's set-up.
