Hikaru no Go Chapter 51 Discussion

yuki just decided to show us that hikaru doesn't belong to his previous world anymore...

Middle school kids playing Go. How can this be so great? How can our author and illustrator write such a fascinating story about middle schoolers playing Go!?

Hikaru gets invited to Waya's study group, but he rejects the invitation until Sai screams at him and forces him to go. So hopefully that will help Hikaru in some way to improve his game.

Hikaru is starting to miss his friends in the Go club and decides to pay a visit. He's eager to come in and wants to challenge all of them that are there, but Akari tells him he shouldn't come back anymore because she's worried Yuki won't come back if he sees Hikaru. Sure enough, Yuki decides to pass by, but leaves upon hearing Hikaru is there and Akari realizes it and chases after him. He lies to her and at first gets away with it, but then he's caught in his lie, but he had already left before he got caught. Akari gets mad at Hikaru because she believes the Go club lost their one chance to get him back. It was pretty funny that she kept hitting Hikaru with the Go stones while he's huddled on the floor saying he won't come back anymore. But in the end, it was a pretty sad chapter to see how Hikaru's decision to leave the club caused a major rift in his friendships and for the club in general.
