unfortunately this whole chapter doesn´t really make any sense.
The magnetism of the powder wouldn´t be strong enough to pull the sword towards yahiko. And even if it did, then his opponent couldn´t pull it back again. The sword would just stick to yahiko´s body giving him time to counter attack.
The sword would also be pulled sideways. So it would hit yahiko, but not cut him.
Yeah, looks like the author had just discovered magnetism
