Itto and Retsudō meet up and bury the bodies at the place they're going to battle. Retsudō tells Itto that Diagoro is safe and with him. Itto gives him his thanks. They part ways but not before setting the time of the fight for the next day at noon.
Abe appears later on and sees both swords in the ground. He's still angry and wants to kill Retsudō and Itto, but he's scared of them. He comes up with the idea to paint each of their swords with poison. That way he can make sure both of them die after they fight.
