Fullmetal Alchemist Chapter 20 Discussion

Quite a rough welcome for the brothers. It's funny how terrified they are of her. And she was quick to pick up on their missing body/limbs. The fact that she also knows about "It" suggests that she tried human transmutation herself. Maybe a lost child since that topic seemed to be critical...

Now I know why are they afraid of their teacher xD! And what is that thing that Izumi and Ed saw!!!!!

And where is their father!?!?!?! I have so many questions!

Izumi's a cool character. Decent chapter.

Man, what a solemn ending to this chapter. Izumi-sensei's awesome!

I like Izumi and her husband's dynamic they seem very wholesome, though the inclusion of the child with the dead cat did seem maybe one step too far towards cliche.

Another chapter with a sad undertone... Well I guess almost every chapter in FMA is a bit depressing but this one, with the dog's death and the discussion about the childbirth, seems to indicate the cycle of life, and that even with alchemy life you can't be God.

The theme is a bit similar to the one of the discussion Ed and Rose had in the pilot.

Next chapter, the past comes to light. I've already seen all of Brotherhood but I still find the manga interesting. I suppose that makes me a huge FMA fan.

I like how Brotherhood did their own changes of this moment, but it shows less of Izumi, so I would have preferred they kept it the same.

I think the 2003 anime had it mostly simular to the manga, unlike Brotherhood for Izumi's introduction.

Ok that makes more sense, was pretty sure that they said that the teacher was a girl so was a bit confused at the end of the last chapter. Anyways I thought that she would have been the one to teach them after the accident but I guess they now are going to have to spill the beans.

Yikes. Even really sick, she's a force to be reckoned with.

And very astute.

But the thing with witnessing a baby's birth seems to have cut her to the quick.
