Hmm...maybe the king will be different person in terms of characters..that is what i thought this chapter is for..

Hopefully we finally got rid of Youpi and Pouf. But who's gonna battle Meruem? Man, I see no way out. Hopefully it'll finally be Gon-Pitou time!

Pito aren't going to fight, Gon's going to drag pito's fan-boi rear back to Kite so she can put him in proper order.  then it becomes complicated.  she may not want to risk letting Gon live, but Gon needs Pito in one piece to fix Kite.  In Gons's case, one piece means Pito needs to be able to use Nen.  Keep the tail, drop the arms.

This is probably one of my favourite chapters ever. The tone is so weird and yet it fits perfectly. Meruem never cared for his guards, so this is where he first shows any signs of appreciation, even if it only is that they taste good. And the Guards are born with only one purpose and they do really worship Meruem in a way that humans will never do. So it makes perfect sense that this would be their reactions. Also it's hilarious.



And to the people on here that call this the "gayest moment". This isn't really gay at all and there are plenty of more gay moments in the series..



The chapter even explains how this is a motherly kind of love. Basically, Youpi and Pouf become the mother to Meruem by giving their essence (representing mother's milk) which makes him come back to life. I guess to draw parallel to our world, Youpi and Pouf both become like Mary, the mother of Jesus. Meruem is pretty much God to these characters, and becoming the mother of their god would create a euphoric feeling.



I guess people get thrown off because Youpi and Pouf are portrayed as males. But the gender of the ants never really felt important for me. Male characters can still be mothers. Pitou is also portrayed as a male and yet was compared to a mother protecting its offspring in an earlier chapter.

Umm so weird and disturbing.



Not to mention this came out of nowhere... Sigh...



I really hope it does not go to the King loving everyone now and vowing not to kill anyone again...

wow i am glad i am not the only one who found that disturbing. i suppose it is in line with the general context of the story so far. those lackeys  acted pretty much within their character. the question is now, what will happen to the rest of the fighters.

With the exception of this one and only [jaw-droppingly] stupid chapter, the Chimera Ant arc is just standard Togashi in my opinion: fun to read and highly engaging.



Sure, during the first few chapters I was going "WTF" at every page, I mean these creatures eat people. And not just out-and-out kill them and eat them like zombies do, these ants take the human body and grind them like meat for italian sausages, THEN eat them. Ugh.



Despite that, the story is really engaging! You see the characters evolving, maturing and improving themselves. Even the villains are loveable in their own weird way, they... actually have personalities. They're not just there so the heores have someone to pummel.



Ah, why do I bother to explain. READ IT!



But..... like I said... gay chapter is gay. <_<;
