With the exception of this one and only [jaw-droppingly] stupid chapter, the Chimera Ant arc is just standard Togashi in my opinion: fun to read and highly engaging.
Sure, during the first few chapters I was going "WTF" at every page, I mean these creatures eat people. And not just out-and-out kill them and eat them like zombies do, these ants take the human body and grind them like meat for italian sausages, THEN eat them. Ugh.
Despite that, the story is really engaging! You see the characters evolving, maturing and improving themselves. Even the villains are loveable in their own weird way, they... actually have personalities. They're not just there so the heores have someone to pummel.
Ah, why do I bother to explain. READ IT!
But..... like I said... gay chapter is gay. <_<;
