Awesome chapter. It's kind of crazy to see Retsudō laying there like a hurt dog trying to recover. Itto has killed all three of Retsudō's sons and has injured him too, so Retsudō has called upon his illegitimate children, one being his oldest male and the other being the youngest, a daughter. Although, he doesn't view them as his children and treats them harshly, more so the son. He probably treats him even worse because he considers him not only illegitimate, but also inferior due to having a cleft lip. Retsudō obviously doesn't want to have association to anything or anyone inferior, so whenever he speaks to his illegitimate son, he forces him to keep his head down and never looks at him face to face. His son's only wish is to be acknowledged as a Yagyu, even if only for the moment before death, but Retsudō tells him it'll never happen and that he expects him to kill Itto, not to die. Retsudō at least acknowledged his ability with a sword and his school of assassins. So now they ride out to take Itto's head, but of course Itto is always prepared and in this case, he's able to deal with them brilliantly without having to fight for his life. Itto uses the blinding snow and ice to his advantage and is able to lure the men into a ravine. As they close in on Itto, the sun comes out and blinds them all and burns their eyes along with those of the horses'. Unable to do anything, Itto is able to make his escape by using a bow and arrow with a string attached to help guide his way since he too must keep his eyes closed.
Definitely a cool chapter. I'm sure Itto will have to face these men eventually, but for now he's outsmarted them for sure. Good stuff.
