that's toiryama for you, putting a lot of jokes every second, along the way breaking the fourth wall, really showing the good of DB before the action genre started taking in.

(though probably without the action genre we wouldn't be here, and DB will remained adventure comedy story...)

That last illustration looked really good, too bad the entire manga wasn't in color.

There was a lot that they added in the anime of when they were going through Pilaf's castle

                        oh the Puns were good and  Pilaf thinking Bulma has a hideous mind is right, the dragon has  already been summoned that was fast..

What a great chapter, just joke after joke. Breaking the fourth wall is great as always and Pilaf's method of torture and it not working on Bulma is great. And then that final page of Shenlong appearing, lovely stuff.

This was by far my favorite chapter thus far. Maybe it's because this is the fresher material since I never seen the anime version of events, but I think it's more likely that Akira was delivering great jokes on pretty much every page. Goku thinking the Tv moniter was window, Yamcha's pun, Bulma's Udon pun later on (the least funny thing I'll mention but I appreciate it for framing Yamcha & Bulma as compatible through shared sense of humour), Pilaf forgetting his gas mask, and of course Pilaf's torture being blowing Bulma a kiss (which seemed to be effective on Mai & Shu) and their horror at the disgusting things Bulma thought they meant.



That was probably the peak, but this bit here in the beginning already made the chapter one of my favorites. I also like it for how it establishes the group's personality, since that helps the kiss blowing stuff land harder, since the gag feels more rooted in their character that way. The Dr. Slump rant thing was a bit odd.

Bulma giving Pilaf the stinky finger was glorious.

Yes, Shenlong’s first appearance was awesome too!

Did Pilaf and Mai break the fourth wall there about manga and shonen jump?



And omg Pilaf so stupid getting knocked out by the gas like that.

And Bulma's hair went from purple to blue in the coloured pages! haha

The panel with Shenlong was awesome, it was a beautiful art, even more colored.



Pilaf breaking the fourth wall was a little weird.

The drawing's in this chapter were noticably different. It looked like most stuff was hella shaded, I liked it.

This chapter was hilarious. Mai is really cute.

- Hey, if we break that window, we could get out!
