Yu☆Gi☆Oh! Chapter 80 Discussion

I loved this chapter so much!!!



So one thing I commented back on the forum of Chapter 45, I expressed how Anzu acted irrationally to trigger Yami out of Yugi at the amusement park because she just didn’t know how to ask to meet Yami yet. This chapter (80) is what I was referring to when I explained how Anzu’s character development gets better from that time. She eventually realized that Yugi is still Yugi no matter what and I’m glad she’s come to her senses.



I also love this chapter because you get to see Mai’s genuine and vulnerable feelings here. I can relate to her in some way reflecting on my youthful days and wanting to be able to experience that youth again. I know she’s just 23 here but still it doesn’t matter.

                        Nice chapter. Nothing too crazy, but we get some character development from Mai. Yugi also kind of addresses the fact that he's noticed Anzu is more interested in the other Yugi, but she tries to play it off and say she likes Yugi overall, which is true, but you can tell Yami Yugi gives her a bit more of a lady boner.

Now we have this new guy who's a player killer. Hopefully Yugi can destroy this clown quickly and move onto Pegasus soon.

After Jonouchi's win night falls! Yugi and company forgot to get any provisions etc, so Mai ends up feeding the gang, and shows her true colors. Turns out her bold unapologetic ruthless persona she displayed up to this point was just a front she puts out as a duelist. She is a much more sympathetic character when she opens up. She has layers, I guess. She open's up to Anzu in general, and tries get Anzu some alone time with Yugi. Which only leads to us seeing how insecure Yugi is about himself, and his living in the shadow of his other self.



So yeah, character interactions and development is what the Yu-Gi-Oh manga is all about (minus all the games and all). The anime literally strips everything away. Crazy right?!



Anyway, in the second half another player killer appears! He has defeated Mai, and taken all of her chips, but Dark Yugi is quick to the rescue, and challenges the guy for Mai's sake!
