Yu☆Gi☆Oh! Chapter 63 Discussion

Yu-Gi-Oh! is one of those rare series where the anime is arguably just as great as the manga. Props to the anime staff 'cause they did some tweaks and for me it makes for a more coherent story.



Yugi's grandpa being in video cam is just strange, lol. The stakes definitely felt higher in the anime. Speaking of props, gotta give some to Kazuki Takahashi for his improved art. Jonouchi's look changed from the first chapter of the manga compared to the first chapter of Duelist

What’s crazy for me is that all this time Grandpa’s soul was kept in the video tape during Duelist Kingdom, and was brought along for the ride. I don’t even remember how his soul was kept in the anime version (didn’t Pegasus keep his soul or was his soul just trapped into the TV?) but honestly I’m surprised they kept this camcorder concept out of the anime. Man, the anime should be redone for real lol

                        Bakura is back. And Yugi is depressed watching his grandpa stuck in the videotape. Hey, at least he can talk to him.

I liked that panel of Yami Yugi just standing on the roof top alone slightly angry thinking of Pegasus.

Jonouchi (I'm going to call him Joey from now on since it's easier) also receives a tape from Pegasus, about his sister and her eventual blindness if she doesn't receive medical treatment. Damn, Pegasus loves playing games. Yugi offers a star chip to Joey so he can join him and defeat Pegasus as well. Yugi is such a good friend.

Man, the anime sure tried to make this as melodramatic as possible; turns out Yugi's grampa is stuck inside of a videotape;



He can interact with them. Just wow.



Also we get introduced to Shizuka, Jonouchi's little sister, and we learn about her eye problem. On behalf of Yugi, they come up with the idea to make Jonouchi participate together with Yugi in the tournament to win the prize money, and for him to pay for his sisters operation. May I say again, how ruined this was in the anime?! Ok, ok, I won't.
