It just occurred to me but as far as threat goes, doesn't Makoto have the upper hand? So what if they can ruin his dream, imagine how hellish Makoto could make Takayo's life? In case the brother forgot he is forcing him to be HER HUSBAND . . . He could completely ruin Takayo's life . . . And would have an entire life to do so. Although I guess he isn't that type of vengeful person, but there is no harm in bluffing.
