It's incredible how Tohru's greatest character flaw is portrayed as the ideal kindness & compassion. As she carefully considers & nurtures the feelings of others, she becomes vulnerable as she quietly disregards her own feelings. She's not like the traveler who can offer all life & limb to die happily. This is especially driven home by the way she clutches onto the memories of Kyoko.
