Evangeline didn't even love him. At least, I don't interpret it as love. It seems like entitlement and possessiveness. After all, she only went after him because he was the one guy that didn't have an interest in her.
I wonder if Boa Hancock is based off of her. I wouldn't be surprised if Oda read this manga.
