End of the That Mizunokoji Girl arc! It was very good.
They put Asuka in chains to make sure she was even more traumatized. How cute.
Thanks to not seeing her brother for 15 years, Asuka has now developed a brother complex! Who would've thought?
The punchline of the chapter always gets me. Asuka really thinks Mendo is a "big brother" lol.
I wonder if Takahashi planned for Asuka and Mendo to be a couple.
I liked how the OG anime adapted these 4 chapters into two 2-parter episodes. This was the first time a canon storyline was divided into two episodes. Previously it was for the anime original episodes 105 and 106 directed by Oshii before his departure.
So, this was really the first time the anime showed interest in covering 1 story in multiple episodes instead of adapting all 4 chapters together in one compressed episode.
I need to rewatch these episodes again to see how they adapted them. But I don't recall any scene from the manga being cut.
This makes me wonder how will the Remake deal with Asuka's introduction episode. She was already confirmed to be in the Remake way back in episode 18 of Season 1. But she'll make a proper debut in Season 2.
The Remake did a pretty good job in episode 14 That Mizunokoji Boy which was actually an adaptation of a few different chapters combined. And it also seems to do 3 chapter stories justice.
So I wonder if it'll be held back by this story being 4 chapters. I wonder what will be cut.
It also makes me wonder how will they adapt the 11-chapter-long final arc of the manga. The original anime had a clear advantage because it was a movie. But the Remake is a TV series and it'll take at least 3 episodes to adapt without any significant cuts.
