Urusei Yatsura Chapter 133 Discussion

Lum's father has a fight with his wife and gets kicked out of the home. So he goes to live with his daughter and his son-in-law for an indefinite amount of time. That sounds like a normal concept on paper yet somehow it works so well and makes for one of the funniest chapters yet.



I think a lot has to do with the fact that literally everyone's afraid of him. Not only because he's Lum's father, but also since he's a freaking Oni who once tried to invade earth. I wonder if the characters actually still remember that.



I really hope this chapter gets adapted in the Remake. There are 0 reasons for it not to be.




I also liked the original anime version of this episode too. But it's such a shame that so much of its content was anime original. I was hoping that at least the flashback sequence with Lum's mom and dad as newly weds was canon. Lum's mom as a young woman looked so good. Zamn.



Too bad we won't get to see it in the remake, provided that it gets adapted at all.
