Urusei Yatsura Chapter 105 Discussion

Wow. This chapter was adapted as the final episode of the OG anime. Wild to see the manga chapter this early. I guess Deen really did run out of chapters to adapt by the end.



Even then, episode 195 was still incredible and I think Deen really went above and beyond adding tons of great anime original scenes and making changes that truly made it a memorable finale.



Although I heard that at the time the episode wasn't received very well. Probably because it abruptly ended the series without giving any real conclusion to any of the characters.



Thankfully, 2 years later we got the 5th movie The Final Chapter which adapted the last 10 chapters of the manga. But obviously, people watching the TV series in 1986 didn't know that a movie was coming.



As a result, I still see articles where Urusei Yatsura is listed as one of the "top 10 disappointing anime endings according to Japanese audience." But they never specify whether they're discussing the TV series or the movie. Probably due to a lack of research. I find that very annoying because it's very misleading for people who haven't watched/read the series yet.
