If nothing else, you gotta admit that Ataru is committed to his craft. If he wants to do something, he'll do it no matter what. That's how stubborn he is.
He might've had the wrong intentions this time but ultimately he still did a great thing. Granted, in the end, it was Tsuyuko's dad who lifted the curse by playing with the spirit. But Ataru still tried his best.
It just sucks that Tsuyuko moved out again in the end. But since her issue is resolved I guess there's no reason for her to stick around.
I loved the anime version of this story in episode 30. I'll always remember it as one of the earliest examples of Ataru doing the right thing. It happened WAY early in the series comparatively. Even before the famous The Last Date chapter which was adapted in episode 157. Though of course, the Nozomi episode is a lot better for various different reasons.
