Chrno Crusade Chapter 30 Discussion

It hurts to see Rosette like this ;-;

It was either poor translation or convoluted storytelling but that flashback of Chrno's as he was near death on the floor shot in half wasn't just mysterious; it was gibberish.   But something about what Aion did to him and Rosettes tears triggered him to get so angry to break the seal reminiscent to that time they released the demon at Magdalene and Rosette was hit.  He broke the seal and used her life force for his source of the astral line to heal his broken down body and even go into his full powered mode.  We finally see how serious the effects of the seal are on Rosette when she's on the floor gasping in excruciating pain like that...  This is going to take a few years off her.  He's literally taking her life to heal himself right now.



This has to be traumatizing for Rosette.  Not only did she witness her brother she's looked for for the last 4 years not acknowledge her, and him shoot her closest friend and mutual childhood friend in the face, but she was mocked by Aion with the self head shot and his remark about her being a coward, and then she had her life sucked out of her in the most violent manner ever.  I genuinely feel horrible for her.



I wonder if this was the mistake Chrno had made in the past that the Elder mentioned...  It was cool to see that perverted old man act so admirably.  



edit: I said the flashback was gibberish when I shouldn't have.  Rereading it made it clear that he once, before being locked away, had an experience with someone much like Rosette.  He had a promise that he broke in some way in relation to Aion, to whom he may blame Aion for, which resulted in him losing her.  The mistake elder mentioned was due to this.  Do not make the same mistake where you'll lose Rosette, your second chance at keeping what's important to you safe.  That being said it was far too messy for my taste.
