I find every chapter of this manga is dense, there's a lot of small details everywhere. This one opened up a lot of questions rather than answered much however, so I'll leave it at that. I wonder why Chrno was in a Magdalene seal and it's interesting to note how he has the watch at this point in time. I'm also curious if the information about Joshua has been manipulated in some way.
I'm not sure if this is a criticism or not yet, but I find the way the story is going to be really chaotic. From the first case on the boat, to the Ralaei segment, to the ghost chapter, to the introduction to Joshua with the puppet master, and now a flashback. It's taking a slow and somewhat slice of life approach thus far but it doesn't have much of a singular focus until Joshua came up. And now with him introduced we're going right into an unexpected flashback segment. Again, not necessarily a negative or a positive yet but it's something which feels a bit off.
