Genshiken Chapter 55 Discussion

The end.. Now that the anime is out, I think I give Nidaime chance - there are new characters, yes, but Ogiue, Sue and Ohno are still there. Something ends but something new begins I guess.

All in all - it was great series, I really like those mangas that portrays aging characters and school life (Azumanga was the best). Now I just wonder if I ever find another similiar and good manga.

I think the manga ended quite well. I definitely prefer the manga over the anime.

This was a good end to the manga (though it has been resumed), but these last three volumes felt unnecessary.  Volume 6 provided a very good ending and marked a dramatic change in the direction of the manga.  Ogiue could not fill the vacancy that the departure of generation created.  Her relationship with Sasahara felt forced.  I couldn’t find any indication that they actually were interested in each other until well into the beginning of that story arc.  The fact that everyone thought they were dating seemed like a recurring joke.  All in all, these last three volumes a great, but they are unable to surpass the first six.

I am curious as to why Shimoku Kio revived the series after this ending and years of not working on it, but I don’t believe I will really care too much if the next volumes turn out to be good.
