Couldn't the grandfather just make another one? Well I'm glad that Mirai is so straightforward in rejecting her as to not cause any misunderstandings... hate when male leads obviously love the female MC but don't directly vocalize it so the female MC feels the still love that other girl that was either there ex or their past love.
